“A wonderful Suprise - 02/02/18

Having driven aroud Paignton for ages for a

Cream Tea, we came upon this lovely tea

room. Whilst not located in a particular nice

road, we were attracted to the place by it’s

very pretty look.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The

cream teas were gorgeous. It was also

proper tea (not a tea bag in sight).

I recommend anyone to pay a visit here.

Thank you.”

“Just Excellent!! Warm, friendly….and THE BEST cream tea

in South Devon by far!! - 01/11/17

We arrived just as the shop was about to close for the day, but the owner

was very welcoming and more than happy for us to order and dine in.

The cream teas we had were amazing, served on old-fashioned cake

stands with fresh loose leaf tea - no tea bags in sight! - and we also each

had a tea timer to make sure it was to our strengths. The scones were

delicious, with more the amply helpings of both jam and cream.

This place is a MUST for anyone visiting Paignton and the South Devon

coast who wants a really good tea and caek shop! We’ll definatly be

coming back on our next visit to the area.”

“Charming tea shop with delicious cake -

02/09/17

I’m fussy about my tea shops having baked cakes for

a living. This lovely tea shop with it’s generous,

friendly hosts did not dissapoint. The tea was loose

leaf served in pretty china tea sets with a tea timer so

that you could time how stong you wanted your tea.

The high tea at a very reasonable price served

delicious finger sandwiches (we had smoked salmon

and cream cheese, tuna (instead of ham) and egg

mayonnaise, plus a scone with clotted cream and

jam. We chose from the delicious selection of cakes

and got a generous slice (victoria sponge for me and

chocolate orange for my daughter) plus a ferraro

rocher chocolate on the side. The decor was olde

worly and charming. The lovely hosts were friendly

and nothing was too much trouble. We will certainly

return if we are in the area again.”

“Amazing tea and coffee shop - 31/08/17

We came and visited you whilst on holiday! We were a large group with two

young boy. We can sometimes find eating out a little stressful as the boys can be

a little loud, but you were amazing with them. Especiallymy eldest! It made our

visit relaxing and so enjoyable! And all this is before tasting the wonderful food! I

cannot recommend you enough! Thank you so so much!”

“Excellent family run tea room - 06/08/17

We had a lovely visit to the tea rooms and felt very welcomed by the friendly owners.

All our needs were catered for, and adjustments were made to make room for our

large group of 9. We had all ages in our group, ranging from 1 year old to

grandparents and everyone was made a tasty meal adapted to individual tastes and

dietary requirments (vegan). The afternoon tea was very well presented and those

who had paninis and jacket potatoes enjoyed them very much (even if the potato was

to large to finish!) Definatly worth a visit and we will go back when we visit Paignton

again.”

family.”

“A wonderful old fashioned experience - 22/06/16

My daughter and granddaughter treated me to afternoon tea for a birthday

bought to the table full of beautiful little triangle sandwiches, scones and

you feel very welcome and as it was my birthday they gave me a lovely

bouquet of flowers, what a lovely thing to do. I will definatly be returning to

Went in on the Wednesday and had to go back on the Friday

praise this place high enough. They have taken a simple

Bacon sandwich and made it into a utter super meal. Bacon

done to perfection. Grilled not fried. Come with a salad (In and

seperate dish) and dressing (again in a little jug) and on top of

that loads of crisps. The coffee is top quality and i would have

no hesitation in recommending this place. Cannot wait till May

2018 when we will again be visiting here.”

mozzerella panini was beautifully presented and very tasty. Great presentation

“Just lovely - 20/07/16

We visited Victorian Times last summer and loved everything

about it the food, the setting and the owners so we definatly

made a point of coming to Paignton for another visit this year.

Was so nice that the owners remembered us from last

summer. We both had toasties then scones and a slice of

Victoria Sponge. The one word i would say about the food

here is light, everything tastes very light and not stodgy in fact

we could probably have seconds of everything. Good to see

that the tearoom is really busy and hope to see you again next

year.”

“Birthday afternoon tea - 27/06/16

staff, and excellent food presented in a very classy

“Wonderful Cream Tea - 10/04/16

Truly wonderful experience! Searched Google maps to find a traditional tea shop in

Paignton after travelling by Dart Steam Railway from Dartmouth. Fantastic cream

tea. Amazing attention to detail from beautiful china crockery, miniture jammy

dodger biscuit decorativly placed on the saucer of the tea cup to the lavender sprigs

on the top tier of the cake stand. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Fruit scones

were delicious and it was such a good value too! This tea shop will be top of our list

next time we are staying in Devon.”

fabulous cakes. Good value, for good quality. Well

worth a visit. So pleased we popped in a lovely,

relaxing experience.”

“Hidden Gem away but not far from the madding crowd! - 05/04/16

Spot on, we fancied something a little different from the usual Paignton fish and

chips or pasty. Rather than face armies of holiday makers on the main drag, walk a

few hundred yards into town to this charming and quaint little Victorian Tearoom.

They have a good selection of fresh and very tasty home made cakes. We had a

panini, with crisps and a small side salad. We had a pot of real leaf tea, in china

cups with tea leaf strainers, proper old school, although the clues in the name

really! Lovely atmosphere and staff. Well deserved as one of the best.”

“Great Food and Service - 10/11/16

Not my first visit. All experiences have been a pleasure. Particularly tea,

loose leaf and a tea timer to brew. Cakes are fresh and well proportioned.

Excellent fresh coffee. Very friendly and good atmosphere. High on my tea

room recommendations!”

“Perfect cream teas - 31/03/16

Came to this tearoom end of March 2016.

The service and the tea and scones were excellent.

We each had the dream which was two scones each

and clotted cream, jam and butter accompanied with

loose tea in a pot, dainty china plates and cups were

nice to see and use. The little triple tea timer was a

fun addition! Debbie and Hannah were lovely to meet

and gave good service, environment and cheer!”

“Mum says it’s the best afternoon tea she’s ever had! - 24/03/16

I saw some other tasty food being served but when in Devon…. it’s got to be afternoon

tea right?

First of all the tea - you can choose a blend, we went for the breakfast one, very nice

indeed. Loose tea complete with strainer, timer and dainty cups, great for aficionados

and coffee drinkers like me who could with some education about what good tea tastes

like.

Sandwiches - lovely freshly prepared stuff, you could sense they had invested thought

in making the egg mayo the best it could be, and boy was it nice, also flavourful ham

and some smoked salmon and cream cheese.

Scones - We went for the plain scones and they were light as a feather. Good dollop of

Clotted Cream all present and accounted for.

Cake - You can choose from a selection in the display, i couldn’t resist the Victoria

Sponge and mother goose went for a take on carrot cake, which she thinks was carrot

and walnut, delicious too by all accounts.

They throw on a Ferrero Rocher to finish. Bonus.

Chatted to the folks running the place, i’m convinced they were a family from

somewhere up North but felt a bit rude asking, anyway they were and rightly so.”

“Great afternoon tea - 11/02/16

My husband and i went for Afternoon tea. The

service was excellent and the food lovely. Just a

shame we couldn’t finish it all. Would highly

recommend it.”

“Lovely lunch with my mum - 29/01/16

A rainy Friday afternoon i took my mum for lunch.

The food is lovely and tea in a proper tea pot with

a charming brew tea timer. The staff are lovely.

We could of sat there all afternoon and not even

noticed it raining outside. I can’t wait to return to

try the cream tea.”
